Instruction (Getting Your Certification)
Dual Cross-Country
Training
Flying to line-of-sight destinations will occupy most of your basic instructional hours. But
there's a lot of sky up there for you to explore, and cross-country flying
will get you moving in many new directions. By the time you're doing cross-country
work, you'll be comfortable with the airplane and can concentrate on other piloting
skills: planning, weather, using charts, radio procedures, airspace, and navigation.
You and your instructor will go over all aspects of the trip before you
depart, map out the intended route, review the airport facilities en route and
at your destination, determine what references or navigational aids need to get
there, calculate things like weight and balance and fuel requirements, and
cover many other factors that will surely add a new dimension of realism to your
flight training.
